Kora and boys Day 4

Noah is 6. Noah is a boy. Noah dislikes writing tasks of any kind. Jonny is 4. Jonny is a boy too. Jonny prefers party bags to writing. Jack is 2. Jack draws endless circles and screams when someone steals his felt pen.

However, Friday night saw an amazing event. I was sitting writing some Christmas cards. The older boys can never be more than a meter away from me at the moment so they sat down. The next thing I witnessed was Noah writing his 29th Christmas card and Jonny handing me a card addressed to Mam containing a chocolate heart. Made my weekend... just hope Noah didn't miss out anyone in his class!

Kora and boys Day 3

Is putting up the Christmas tree a craft? It is in my mind! I love a nice Christmas tree so the prospect of decorating it with three boys in tow was not appealing. In fairness their attention span was fairly limited and I'm not one for colour-coded baubles, so all in all I'd say it was quite a successful venture. Noah unwrapped all the decorations, Jonny laid them out on the carpet, Jack managed to adorn the tree with all of two decorations and then they all left the room! Bargain! Not a bad effort! Tree looks great.... good job I'm not a perfectionist!

Kora and boys Day 2

The impromptu ones are always the best.... Caught Noah scribbling furiously and then cutting with the concentration of a 6 year old cutting out a Christmas stocking! The irony is that if I'd asked him to sit and create a giant stocking (complete with string hook attachment!), he would have instantly decided to build a lego creation, study his football cards or have a poo! I love little boys! It's all about seizing the (very seldom) moment!!

Kora and boys Day 1

As a mother of three young boys, the prospect of twelve Craft Sessions brings me out in a cold sweat! Our boys are adorable on their own .... but en-masse they can be virtually unbearable! I am, however, going to give the Challenge a good go! Maybe one boy at a time would be a sensible option. I decided to ease in gently with a simple Christmas card for my 2 year old and his little (girl) friend to have a go at. A bit of sticking and cutting... it should have been straight forward! I got everything ready...the glue, the cards, the scissors, the sparkles, the fabric....."I want to go to bed" said Jack. With that, he promptly took himself to bed for the rest of the afternoon, leaving myself and Mali happily crafting away! We had a lovely time..but I'm just a bit concerned that I've already defeated the object of the Challenge by working with somebody else's child!! Oh.....and so this is what it would be like to have a little girl!
